CBBH Photo Challenge: Windows

If it’s Friday, it must be France …

Okay, I know it’s Sunday, not Friday, … life is crazy but I am still managing to keep track of the days … honest!

Out of respect I wanted to leave my post about Amanda Todd in place all last week. Thus and therefore, I’m a tad late with my Friday post. This week I’m combining it with some new photography fun.

I’m hooked into another photo challenge! Oh yes I am. I was introduced to it through the friendly MegTraveling blog I follow and couldn’t resist, especially when the subject for October is “windows”. This challenge is monthly and it originates from the fabulous East Of Malaga blog. I still want to do the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge too so I will have to see how I can fit it all in. You know how I love to share my photos and enjoy yours.

Here are two  brilliant photography blogs I recommend: Chronicles of Illusions and artistic.  After you finish peeking through my windows, hurry on over to visit them.

You also know by now that I’m a self-confessed travel junkie and have been taking photographs since I was six years old. It’s a deadly combination when I’m on a trip … the shutter simply gets steaming! In Europe, doors and windows are irresistible to me.  Here are a few of my contributions to this challenge and … um, no surprise here … guess from where …

Do you take photos of windows when you travel? If you were strolling down the street below, would those green shutters have captured your imagination? I have some good friends who don’t take any photos when they travel! Imagine! What’s your pleasure?

Patricia Sands lives in Toronto, Canada when she isn't somewhere else, particularly the south of France. With a happily blended family of seven adult children and, at last count, six grandchildren, life is full and time is short. Beginning with her first Kodak Brownie camera at the age of six, she has told stories all of her life through photography. Much to her surprise a few years ago, she began to write and has now published three novels, including two that are part of a six-book series set in the south of France. Love France? Love her work! Check out her website www.patriciasandsauthor.com She is particularly drawn to the rewarding friendships of women and the challenges many embrace once their families are grown. "It's never too late to begin something new," she enthuses. "As the saying goes, just do it!"

  1. Hello Patricia and welcome to the CBBH Photo Challenge for October! Nice to meet you 🙂

I´m fortunate to have visited Nice, Grasse and Villefranche myself, so I know how attractive this area really is. Like you, I always have my camera at the ready to capture the moment to savour later, when I´m back home. That´s not to say I don´t love where my home is – far from it – I love Spain so much I moved here permanently from England a few years ago. It´s always nice to have wonderful travel memories though, isn´t it?

Your photographs are wonderful, Patricia. Truly evocative.

Thank you for featuring two other blogs for us to visit. It´s always lovely to say HELLO to new friends around the world.

    Very well done!

  2. Gorgeous pictures! I didn’t think I had an obsession with windows, but looking back over my recent pictures (past year or so), it seems that I have a fair share of window pictures. Maybe I will post some of mine and we can compare notes…

  3. Oh yes – windows are always a fascination. I do believe the European countries have some of the most beautiful configurations. I have no idea how many pictures I took of windows in Holland–I couldn’t get enough of the perfection. It didn’t take long to know that Tuesday was the day everyone aired their bedding on the street where we lived in Germany. Windows in Europe tell so much of the culture. We even sat in a few ourselves.

  4. Great pictures Patricia, making me want to go straight back to Nice! Yes I take pictures of everything on holidays, windows included, and what better place than France for taking pictures of windows. Actually even when I go into the city here, I bring my camera and take pictures.

  5. Beautiful photos! I really enjoyed all of them, and especially the first one and the last. Those shutters in the last photo – what a great splash of color. I also want to thank you for recommending my blog; I’m honored and truly appreciate it 🙂

  6. Great Pictures. Antibes was always a favourite of mine…I have to confess to being one of those people who cannot help but look in windows (of old buildings). I love this quintessentially French architecture.
