The Good Life

It’s that exciting time again ~ the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games! Best Unknown-1of luck to all of the athletes who once more remind us that it is possible for the world to be united in good will.  For the most part politics are set aside for two weeks and the commitment and dedication to sport is celebrated. Win or lose here, each of these competitors is a champion!

If it’s Friday, it must be France …

Patricia Sands lives in Toronto, Canada when she isn't somewhere else, particularly the south of France. With a happily blended family of seven adult children and, at last count, six grandchildren, life is full and time is short. Beginning with her first Kodak Brownie camera at the age of six, she has told stories all of her life through photography. Much to her surprise a few years ago, she began to write and has now published three novels, including two that are part of a six-book series set in the south of France. Love France? Love her work! Check out her website www.patriciasandsauthor.com She is particularly drawn to the rewarding friendships of women and the challenges many embrace once their families are grown. "It's never too late to begin something new," she enthuses. "As the saying goes, just do it!"

    1. I love the figure skating too! I’ve been a skier all my life so live vicariously watching those events. At my age, is it wrong for me to still dream of busting moguls and catching air like they do? Probably … but I still do love the fantasy! And you are right about Antibes … gorgeous, for sure!

  1. We are watching it right now! The Olympics are so much fun to watch. Just hope all will go well in Russia when it comes to the security and terror threats.

    1. Of course we loved watching the Canadian sisters win gold and silver in mogul skiing! It’s so interesting how we enjoy watching every sport at this level of competition. All the athletes are winners just for being there. One of our sons is there doing television production and it’s fun to get his take on Sochi. It’s not as bad as some are making it out to be … as he says, “It’s Russia! What do people expect?” A sense of humour is an absolute travel necessity there.

    1. I’ve been delayed by family matters so am playing catch-up now! Curling is one of those sports that people often chuckle over at first and then discover it is challenging and also a great social game. It sounds like your cousins are making the most of the sport!

  2. I am a Francophile through and through, and would love to retire in a Provencal town someday! We visited Antibes on a day-trip fom Cagnes Sur Mer and fell in love with it. How fortunate you are to have gone on an extended stay.

It's always good to hear to from you!
